What I do now
I work for Cornerstone Medical in Waltham, MA, a surgical robotics startup developing a next generation robotic system for minimally invasive surgery. I have designed a single-use, injection molded port access system (below). It accepts and seals against a variety of instruments and endoscopes, all the while ensuring ease of use. My work also focuses on advanced instrumentation, particularly an endoscopic vessel sealer.
Previous Employment
I worked for Medtronic in Woburn, Massachusetts where the Minimally Invasive Therapies Group (MITG) has its gynecology division. This unit helps gynecologists adapt to the shift of bringing surgical procedures out of the operating room and into the physician’s office.
The legacy system I improved upon was the TruClear™ system, which is used in See & Treat Hysteroscopy. This system gives surgeons the capability to remove a large range of intrauterine abnormailities. TruClear™ includes a hysteroscopic tissue removal system, hysteroscopes, tissue resection devices, and the HysteroLux™ Fluid Management System. Learn more here.
